Two stories that I cam across in the past week have made a soft spot in my heart.
The first story involves a huge power outtage near the Mid-West and East Coast. Due to recent ice storm an estimated 1.3 miliion homes have been without power for some days now. It is estimated that their power will not be back on until mid-February. I know that I'm often cold while sitting in my office here at work with some semi-heat and I'm near freezing at night when sleeping. If it weren't for my portable heater I would be sick all winter long without having to even leave my house to get sick. So, I know how hard and unbearable this must be for those people who are doing their best to survive under these extremely harsh conditions. My heart goes out to them and I pray that something happens very soon before 25 more people die.

The second story is that of a crazes lunatic who killed his 5 kids, his wife and then himself after he and his wife were fired from their job. Are times that hard that some would rather die than to be jobless? What ever happened to making due or getting by? Why take your life because of something that can be fixed? Why take your children't lives because of your problems? My mind can't even begin to grapple what would make him commit such a horrendous act. So many questions with no answers. This is definitely one story I wish I had the power to go back and undo.
